RG day 8
Day 8 is upon us. Swiatek, Serena, Pavlyuchenkova, Medvedev and many more.
Federer - Koepfer
We all expected the cooler, slower and humid conditions to have an effect and they did. The first 2 sets took 2 hours.

Federer with an amazing return

the shocked face after the shank is priceless

Koepfer with a lovely backhand smash

Koepfer on how he lost the 3rd set

look at how early Federer takes the ball

A second code for this and point penalty
Sadly Federer has decided to withdraw from RG.
Berrettini - Kwon
Kwon did great to keep this match close but in the end Berrettini did manage to win in straight sets.

Kwon with a great get

Zidansek - Cirstea
This match started out really close but then Zidansek completely dominated the second set.

beautiful mover on the clay

The moment she realized what she achieved
Pavlyuchenkova - Azarenka

great backhand

Azarenka running forehand

Azarenka struggled a bit with her serve
This match was controlled by Pavlyuchenkova. She either hit the winners or missed and she hit more than she missed in the final 2 sets.

Pavs with another gorgeous backhand

and forehand
Hsieh/Mertens - Swiatek/Mattek-Sands
This was probably the match of the day for me. Highly entertaining match.

Hsieh reflex volley

flying Iga backhand

BMS digging up these smashes was the cornerstone of their comeback

Ever seen Iga rile a crowd up like this?

Bowing to Igamania
Badosa

Disagreement with umpire

Returning exhibition

First quarterfinal for former junior champ
GarÃn - Medvedev
The first two sets were extremely one sided with Medvedev playing very well and Garin less so. The 3rd set was closer but in the end Medvedev hit outrageous shots to win it. Finished the match by hitting 6 winners.

one of the more entertaining exchanges
He almost hit the exact same forehand twice in a row to break and serve for the match.

The crowd loved Medvedev, they were cheering his name
Serena

Touching a ball that was likely going out.

Reminds me of this incident from 2015 French Open

Rybakina didn't even smile after winning
Davidovich Fokina - Delbonis

He came on court with this new hair-do
Does the Delbonis serve look like a reverse hug? Have I lost my mind?

Davidovich Fokina probably could have finished this in straight sets but got nervous in the 3rd set. He did manage to win it in 4 though.

Nice moments
Cinderella leaving the court just before the curfew and losing a shoe. Thankfully, this girl is smart enough to wait and get her shoe back.
